About Us
The Capt. Bob Lewis Billfish Challenge (CBLBC) was formed in 1993 and incorporated
in 1998, obtaining 501 [c](3) status in January of 2000. It was named to honor
the legendary South Florida professional fishing guide, Capt. Bob Lewis, who died
in January 1997. The first tournament, planned on short notice, registered only
five boats, but was a great success for those who participated. The
proceeds benefit the youth of South Florida, through our youth educational and
fishing/diving programs. CBLBC proceeds are donated to beneficiaries who exemplify
the ideals of this Tournament. Contributions to Youth programs have reached nearly
three hundred thirty thousand dollars as of 2008. All Tournament Directors and committee
members serve as volunteers with exception of the Executive Director.
Mission Statement
The Captain Bob Lewis Billfish Challenge, Inc. is a 501, [c](3), not for profit
Florida corporation, dedicated to promoting environmental education, marine conservation
and improving the health of our youth in the South Florida community.
